GREAT BAY MASTERS WIN 2002 25-METER CHAMPIONSHIP AT WHEATON COLLEGE

Great Bay Masters won the New England Masters 25-Meter Championship at Wheaton College, December 14-15. This is the fourth consecutive GBM victory at the annual event. Pre-meet predictions suggested it would be a close battle with the Minuteman Masters. That was not to be, as Great Bay jumped out to a 650 point lead on Saturday and increased the gap on Sunday, to secure an 822 point victory (see team scores below).

THE KEY TO THEIR SUCCESS

Once again, teamwork proved the successful ingredient for Great Bay Masters. Great Bay has a wonderful mix of swimmers – ranging in age from 19 to 80, and experience from those just learning all the competitive strokes, to former college varsity swimmers. Swimmers work together in practice to improve their fitness and stroke technique. Showing strong solidarity and group enthusiasm, Great Bay attends the NEM championship meets as a full team. It all comes together for Great Bay in relay competition – relays score double points, and Great Bay swims more relays, and can score points in more relay classifications than any other team in New England.
